How to Join LMFC

You will need to print off and fill in a copy of our Membership Form and hand it to the Membership Secretary with the relevant fees shown below. Please make sure you fill in all the details as required and sign/date the cheque as this will speed along membership paperwork. All cheques MUST BE made payable to LMFC or Loughborough Model Flying Club.

If any proposed member is under 18 then proof of age is required. Proposed Junior Members (under eighteen) need to provide proof of age ( i.e. copy of birth certificate) for BMFA insurance purposes and MUST be sent in with the application form.

It can take a few weeks for your LMFC membership and insurance certificate and membership to the BMFA to arrive by post.

Once the Membership Secretary confirms by email that he has received your membership forms and fees you are covered by insurance and you can fly. Print off your confirmation email as you will be required to show this at the field before you can fly.

If you have already obtained insurance through BMFA Membership then you are required to send a copy of the insurance certificate along with your application form and LMFC membership fee's only to the Membership Secretary.

We hope you will enjoy your flying as a member of the Loughborough Model Flying Club and that you will participate in the events and meetings that are arranged. Our members are keen to help so don't hesitate to contact any of the members or committee through this web site. Alternatively, ask anyone at the flying site.

The Committee.

Learn to Fly -  Fixed wing...
You have probably arrived at this section of our site because you are interested in learning to fly and have already bought an aircraft or are thinking of buying one and are looking for some guidance of How to Get Started and find out what's needed. If you are 'new' to flying and have already bought an aircraft I strongly suggest you get an experienced pilot to 'Test Fly' the model first otherwise it could end up a bag of bits!
To learn to fly contact one of the members below with your information or ask at the Flying Field......

If you have your own aircraft there are a number of good pilots to check out your model and test fly it so that you can then have a go yourself. If you are not sure who to ask then watch others flying to see who is most competent. A good guide is to look at the pilots model and if it's clean and in good condition that's a start. Watch them fly and if they land relatively slowly and under control that's another good point. Someone who zooms into landing at breakneck speed is not the ideal person to teach you. A good pilot will check your model before every flight and 'walk' you through the safety procedure's and Club rules. They will also trim your model and tune the engine for best performance. To be certain ask someone at the field who is the most qualified to teach you to fly, but be tactful !! Generally there is always someone being taught so watch them.

'Sunday Flight line'

The weather is not too warm but a fairly good turn out. Note the trainer aircraft, there were three  members learning to fly planes this week, which is great ! Four Wot's (2 of which were the new foam electric ones) made for an interesting and pleasant day's flying. Lots of banter as usual.

Note our lovely Stacey dressed in pink who loves to see her dad and brother flying.
